Project Bloom helps young adults blossom through cultivating work and volunteering skills, nurturing talents and growing confidence.

What is Project Bloom?

Project Bloom is a different kind of service: a springboard for young people and adults who want to gain valuable work and volunteering experience, develop skills, celebrate achievements. People can choose from a whole set of key skills including gardening, food, woodwork, work skills and much much more. It’s perfect for people who want to volunteer, move onto employment projects or want to keep developing their skills.

The Project aims to:

  • Learn useful transferable skills

  • Gain a sense of purpose and achievement

  • Develop skills and experience that help people access employment projects or volunteering opportunities

Who is Project Bloom for?

For people with disabilities aged 16+ years with a range of support needs. To join the project, people will need to be interested and motivated to:

  • Develop work and volunteering skills as a member of a team

  • Volunteer outdoors in all weathers

  • Follow a structured skills based programme

How do we achieve our aims?

We have partnered with AQA to implement their Unit Award Scheme (UAS), allowing us access to hundreds of modules for the adult or young person to complete and celebrate their achievements.

People on the project are rewarded with a certificate each time they successfully complete a unit of learning. They can build up a portfolio of certificates to evidence their skills, knowledge, and experience. The scheme boosts confidence, increases engagement, and improves motivation, helping to make progress on their lifelong learning journey.

When does the Project run?

Full days or half day sessions, Monday to Friday throughout the year. Each day starts at 9:30am and finishes at 3:30pm. Half days start at 9:30am - 12:30pm or 12:30pm - 3:30pm.

How long is a Project Bloom Placement?

Placement lengths depend on each person’s needs, wishes and interests but most placements are for 1, 2 or 3 years length.

How can people attend?

There are lots of different ways people can attend ELHAP, including local authority funding and direct payments.
